A Multifunctional Bookshelf Inspired by Chinese Furniture

The Exquisite Wood bookshelf, designed by Wei Jingye and Guo Rongying, draws inspiration from traditional Chinese furniture while incorporating modern elements. With its dignified and simple shape, the bookshelf combines square and round elements to create a harmonious and elegant design. The use of tenon and mortise structure in some parts adds a touch of traditional craftsmanship.

One of the unique features of the Exquisite Wood bookshelf is its use of butterfly screws to connect the components. This allows for easy disassembly and assembly, making it convenient for both production and transportation. The bookshelf is made of solid elm wood, giving it a thick and heavy appearance that exudes a sense of quality and durability.

The designers have paid attention to the details of the bookshelf, ensuring that the components are made of straight elm materials to minimize material loss. The use of metal connectors not only adds a modern touch but also enhances the overall stability of the design. The combination of solid wood and metal creates a contrast that is both visually appealing and functional.

With dimensions of 1500mm x 4500mm x 1900mm, the Exquisite Wood bookshelf is designed to accommodate a large number of books and other items. The mortise and tenon structure used in the solid wood parts is carefully crafted to ensure a secure and stable construction. The use of mechanical numerical control (NC) engraving and milling allows for precise and efficient production.

The Exquisite Wood bookshelf is not only a functional storage solution but also a piece of art that adds a touch of elegance to any space. Its combination of Chinese elements, solid wood construction, and convenient assembly make it a versatile and practical choice for both residential and commercial settings.

The design process for the Exquisite Wood bookshelf started in Shenyang in March 2021 and was completed in June 2021. It was displayed in the museum of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang in June 2021, showcasing the designers' dedication to creating a unique and innovative piece of furniture.

The Exquisite Wood bookshelf has been recognized for its exceptional design and craftsmanship. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2022. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate excellence in both aesthetics and functionality, meeting professional and industrial requirements.
